Chinese, Uzbek presidents vow to strengthen cooperation

TASHKENT, June 9 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao on
Wednesday pledged efforts to enhance cooperation with Uzbekistan
when meeting here with his Uzbek counterpart Islam Karimov.
The two leaders also exchanged views on prospects of bilateral
ties and on international and regional issues of common concern.
Hu hailed the development of Sino-Uzbek ties since the two
countries announced the establishment of friendly and cooperative
partnership in 2004.

that the new UN sanctions against Iran are "aimed to bring Iran
back to the negotiating table and activate new round of diplomatic
efforts."

adopted by the Security Council of the United Nations highlighted
the deep concern of the international community, the French
Foreign Ministry said Wednesday.

China urges diplomatic solution to Iranian nuclear issue

VIENNA, June 9 (Xinhua) -- A senior Chinese official said here
Wednesday the best way to solve the Iranian nuclear issue was
through dialogue.
Chen Qiufa, chairman of the China Atomic Energy Authority and
director of the Chinese mission to the International Atomic Energy
Agency (IAEA), told an IAEA board meeting China noted Iran did not
redirect its declared nuclear material for other uses.
However, Iran had failed to implement resolutions of the UN

four-month campaign to crack down on the production and use of
counterfeit automobile license plates on Thursday.
Police around the country will target trade in fake license
plates, registration papers and other license plate-related crime,

SEOUL, June 9 (Xinhua) -- A two-star South Korean army general
on Wednesday was arrested for allegedly leaking military secrets
to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), local media
quoted military sources as reporting.
