Chinese president arrives in Tashkent for visit, SCO summit

TASHKENT, June 9 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao
arrived here Wednesday for a state visit to Uzbekistan, where he
will also attend a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization
This is Hu's second visit to the Central Asian country since he
became China's head of state in 2003. In June 2004, Hu visited

met here Wednesday with former U.S. vice president Al Gore.
The Chinese government attaches great importance to climate

SHENZHEN, June 9 (Xinhua) -- The minimum wage in Shenzhen City
in south China's Guangdong Province will increase by ten percent
to 1,100 yuan per month (161.04 U.S. dollars) in July from 1,000
yuan, municipal authorities said Wednesday.
Part-time employees will see their hourly wage grow to 9.8 yuan,
said Wang Min, head of the city's Human Resources and Social
Security Bureau.

registering of an acquaintance's condominium in Tokyo as its main

S.Korea approves to send powdered milk to DPRK

SEOUL, June 9 (Xinhua) -- South Korea has approved to send two
shipments of powered milk to the Democratic People's Republic of
Korea (DPRK), Seoul's Ministry of Unification said on Wednesday.
The shipments of baby food for infants, sponsored by two civic
groups, will be sent as humanitarian aid to the DPRK, the first
since Seoul announced to take punitive measures against the DPRK
for the sinking of the warship Cheonan.

China and Mauritania sign cooperation agreements

S. Korea to brief U.N. Security Council members on warship sinking

SEOUL, June 9 (Xinhua) -- A team of investigators will brief
members of the U.N. Security Council on the sinking of a South
Korean warship that a multinational probe said was a work of the
Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), the foreign ministry
said Wednesday.
The move comes as Seoul, in an attempt to muster up global
support for punishing the culprit, began a formal process of
referring the incident to the Council.
