Calling China's slower growth "catastrophe" is exaggeration: German FinMin

BERLIN, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble said it was important to recognize real signs of crisis, and calling China's slowdown "catastrophe" was an "exaggeration," according to an interview published on Friday.
"On China, it was always said that two-digit growth rates were dangerous. Now the country has a growth of 6.9 percent, then suddenly it was supposed of being a catastrophe for the world economy," said Schaeuble in an interview with Spiegel Online.
"Fiscal policy must be careful so that they do not promote such exaggerations," he added.

China's foreign exchange market turnover at 110 trln yuan in 2015

BEIJING, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- China's foreign exchange (forex) market posted turnover of 110.93 trillion yuan (16.7 trillion U.S. dollars) last year, the State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE) said on Friday.
It is the first time the annual turnover of the country's forex market has been released, according to the SAFE.

China sees steady growth of property loans

BEIJING, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- Loans to China's real estate sector continued to rise at a steady pace as the housing market gradually warmed up, data from the central bank showed Friday.
By the end of last month, financial institutions in China had lent 21 trillion yuan (3.2 trillion U.S. dollars) to the property sector, up 21 percent year on year, according to a report from the People's Bank of China (PBOC).
The growth was 2.1 percentage points faster than the rate at the end of 2014, according to the report.

BEIJING, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- China State Construction Engineering Corp. (CSCEC) announced on Friday a 2.7 billion U.S. dollar project contract for construction work in Egypt's new administrative capital.
The contract includes the construction of a national conference center, parliament house, exhibition center and office buildings for 12 government departments, the CSCEC said in a statement to Shanghai Stock Exchange.
Work is expected to take three years.
CSCEC's shares rose 2.06 percent

Meng Xiangfei, head of the applications department of the National Supercomputer Center, said on Friday that the center will release a prototype in 2017 or 2018 of an "exascale" computer -- one capable of at least a billion billion calculations per second
